Jak J Alveberg was the first to introduce fire-retardant paints in Norway, and as early as 1947, one of our products underwent testing at the Norwegian Fire Laboratory. The testing resulted in approval for use as fire protection on load-bearing steel structures in buildings.

There is little doubt that in our modern society there has been an increasing risk of fire in a number of areas. As a consequence, the focus on fire safety and limiting the extent of damage in the event of a fire has also increased. Our products are primarily used to minimize the damage in the event of a fire by preventing the spread to adjacent rooms and areas.
Wood burns! – everyone knows that. We provide internal fire protection.
Wood is a beautiful building material that many people want to use, but which, due to its flammability, has limitations. Our products allow wood to be used, even in areas where there are requirements for non-flammability and fire spread. This can be, for example, in escape routes, staircases or assembly rooms, classrooms, conference rooms and so on.
We deliver products that provide documented protection in accordance with current laws and regulations, both as clear varnish and as a white-pigmented paint.
Fire retardant paints must be overcoated with oil-based varnish or paint to prevent humidity from destroying the fire protection properties.

Fire compartmentation means that a building is divided into separate units – like watertight bulkheads in a ship. A fire cell is a defined part of a building where a fire can develop freely without spreading to other parts of the building within a specified time. If fire compartmentation is to have any purpose, it must be made complete.
We have proven and documented solutions for fire protection of cable installations. Our solutions prevent fire from spreading along the cables (IEC 60332-3), from one fire cell to another along cables, pipes and ventilation ducts for up to 4 hours in the event of a fire.
